  INTERNATIONAL CAMP IN ROMANIA

For the third year, the young members group of «Nos Oiseaux» (Swiss Society for the Study and Protection of Birds) is planning a large-scale scientific project with a uniquely human dimension. The project is concerned with the observation and ringing of birds in the Danube Delta, within the framework of an international camp. The two first seasons were implemented in 2007 and 2008. This year, the camp take place between the 19th July and the 7th November 2010!

Red-breasted Flycatcher (Ficedula parva)

Season 2007 and 2008 in numbers:

> More than 150 participants aged from 14 to 60 years old, coming from 10 countries (Europe and North America)

> several dozen of thousand hours of scientific work (publications not included)

> almost 15'000 birds from more than 130 species caught, ringed, measured and released

> more than 260 species of birds observed

> a budget of about 20’000.-- Swiss Francs per year (average over 3 years)

Without any support from the state, the young members group of «Nos Oiseaux» is carrying out its activities through voluntary work and through the contributions from generous donors.
The data collected in 2007 and 2008 represents a unique source of information about the migratory behaviour of birds in Romania. To complete and validate the results from those two years it is imperative to carry out a 2010 campaign. Therefore, the young members group of «Nos Oiseaux» is seeking your valuable support!
